After speakin to Zhu and the gals this afternoon, have all come to unanimous conclusion that niceness and bein interesting is inversely related.

We've all dated nice guys...but dear God, they're SO boring we wouldn't wanna be stuck in the same room alone together...would die of boredom. Especially engineers. AVOID like plague at ALL costs. OK I'll make an exception for a certain photographer-engineer-hiphop DJ hahaha ;p

I remember talkin about this with Daddy, who once memorably commented after I dumped certain bf, "I'm so glad you ditched him, he's so boring." Hahahaha, gosh, my Dad is so cool. He also came up with this gem of a line,"Guys who don't have any vices can't have many virtues either." Hah, I'm sure he won't feel the same way if his daughter dates some bikeriding-chainsmokin-gamblin-druggie pothead of a player. Which I won't of cos, gotta be kiddin...but he's got a point. I reckon the boys gotta try everything, get it all out of their system (been there done that) before they start being mature. Don't think I can date some naive sanitised fanatically Christian goody-two-shoes type.

Zhu was also talkin abt this girl who's really nice, with 'not one mean and bitchy bone in her body'. I, of course, joked that I doubted me and said girl would be able to get along, hahaha...I think I'd be so concerned with comin across politically correct and 'nice' (so as not to corrupt her pristine self), that I'd totally annoy myself to no end, hahaha. Think I rather be known as wicked and interesting but loved by family and close friends, than be known as dull but nice, and liked by one and all. Gah, who needs the approval of the masses? Like I said, those who mind don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind.

We also compared pet peeves about girls. We don't take very kindly to girls who:

1) are neurotic
2) are indecisive
3) have no opinions
4) are too opinionated (gotta know when to speak up and shut up)
5) complain and whine but do nothing to improve their situation
6) throw away all rationality when bein emotional
7) are too 'ku-niang'
8) treat every other girl as competition
9) viciously bitchy (very different from frivolous bitchin)
10) abandon their galpals when they get attached

God, why are we slaggin off our own sex? Hmm. Ah well, we're bein objective.

Urgh, friends jus told me they're headin to winebar and wala later. Damn damn double damn.

My kitchen and the hallway smells like a wet fish market now. WHY?? Because my flatmate Loudie had happily decided to cook fish and NOT ventilate the place...and then subsequently NOT sprayed aerosol or anything to even TRY to make it smell better. And when I ask her about it, she complains I'm fussy. What, so I don't have the right to even try to KEEP the flat clean now? I certainly am NOT going to clean up after her, I'm not her Maria. And HELLO???? WHO, tell me, WHO likes their flat smelling like a wet fish market??? And let's not get me started on the piles of dishes and pans and cutlery piled up in the sink and the trash she's NEVER gonna get round to taking out, despite me having written pointedly on the board that it's her job this week. Fine, I admit I can be an anal clean and neat freak, but then again, I wasn't brought up in a pig sty, unlike SOME people I know...hmpf.

Having met an assortment of Loudie's friends, one'd think they recently emerged from Orwell's 'Animal Farm'. A motley crew of barnyard types, they could prolly form an a[nimal]capella type group with several snorts and countless crows. Which altogether concludes my point about how birds of a feather, do indeed, flock together. And talk about genes running in the family...her cousin came over today, and my God, I can SO see the family resemblance. Darwin was perhaps a lil off, we didn't ONLY descend from apes...in some cases, maybe a stray swine chromosome crept in somewhere somehow...maybe Pigsy from 'Journey To The West' had a part to play. Urk! Speakin of which, she just walked by my room with a huge BURP. Charming, isn't she? Very becoming. Absolutely enchante. Lovely how she sees the need to herald her ominous presence with the sound of a sigh, a complaint, repeated slamming of doors and the clanging of various unidentifiable objects in the night.

Bitched to other flatmate when she got back...who offered me a Kahlua cookie in sympathy. Hmmm, yum. I always did like the Thais, they're so nice and easy to get along with. It's the cheena type Singaporeans who ROYALLY piss me off. With their loud voices complaining voices, their excessive and loud use of Singlish (do you see a trend about volume here?), their booming sense of arrogance and condescension towards others...dear GOT, i.e. God of Tranquility (to borrow from Dominic), you'd think they never received any lessons in manners and etiquette. Hmm, maybe THAT'S why!

Bitching is SO therapeutic...*takes deep breath*

OK enough, good vibes good vibes...*does the Christine thing*!!!

Boy, it sure was cold today, brrr...winter is a-coming, not lookin forward at all. Went to the masseuse today to fix my back...wah shiok...making another appointment for Thursday...heh. Surfed through my pri sch thingummy on Friendster, checked out a few of my old sch mates to see what they look like now. Geee, looks like most of them haven't changed much...the pretty ones grew prettier, i.e. Eunice and Aileen..and the rest...well...they just grew. *Ahem*.

Saw a pretty rainbow today that made me smile. It's the little things, isn't it? =)

rainbow.jpg

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

- Harder To Breathe

"Tolerance of the intolerant is a difficult task that the times asks of us." - John Irving

Have been reading some of my friends' posts on LJ, Xanga and Blogspot...and seems a lot of them have something to gripe about. Well, I'm no exception. Loudie just made the kitchen smell like one big charred chicken, no doubt due to her culinary negligence, and the smell has drifted throughout the house and is now lingering on my clothes and everything else. Hasn't the woman heard of ventilation??? Or at least shutting the relevant door separating the kitchen and the bedrooms??? She needs to go on a much delayed quest...for her common sense. Hmpf.

But I guess my friend from LJ  is right. All the little trials and tribulations we go through daily, no matter great or small, teaches us at least one thing: Patience. I've learnt to close one eye to Loudie's little eccentricities and sometimes seemingly inane behaviour, and let it go. 'Cos if I let it get to me, well, then it hurts me more than it hurts anybody else. And hey, why should I let that happen...I love myself too much to let it bug me. Some might call me indifferent, but IMO, this is just part and parcel of life..and communal living. Maybe this lesson in learning how to get along with and handle other people is a lesson I'll appreciate in time. And if I do it well, maybe I'll graduate in the School of Life with Hons. ;)

On a tangent, this bloody Media Planning shit is driving me nuts. Like, wtf...!!! Patience Patience!!! Focus!!! Grr!!!
